A Day in Puerto Vallarta
Puerto Vallarta originally came to prominence as a port town that served the interests of nearby silver miners. The cobbled streets, striking statues, and beautiful churches still retain the character of their past. But interwoven with the historic sites is a modern city with a bubbling energy and a lively arts scene. There is nightly music in the streets and the town hosts an international film festival once a year. With all the kitschy shops and trendy boutiques of a tourist destination, Puerto Vallarta is small enough to enjoy on a day outing, but so varied in its delights that you'll have to return frequently to soak it all in.
